Markeece Young is a 20-year-old Republican and one of the youngest delegates to the 2016 North Carolina GOP Convention.
Young writes a blog called Young Black Republican and achieved notoriety on Twitter with the hashtag #whyimnotvotingforhillary just hours after Clinton announced her 2016 campaign. He recently assumed the task of recruiting Black millennials to the GOP. Young explains, “This is really a good time to be a Republican here in North Carolina. We have control of the Senate. We have control of all three branches, executive, legislative and judicial branch for the first time in over 100 years.”
America By The Numbers with Maria Hinojosa (ABTN) will examine voters like Markeece whose power and influence are growing in a 2016 election special titled “The New Deciders.” The one-hour program will air on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 on PBS and local public TV stations (check local listings).
